Bone Grafting Process
Bone grafting surgery is a procedure of replacing a lost bone. The bone may be lost as a result of periodontal disease or after a tooth removal. In such cases, the part of the bone in which the tooth was is no longer stimulated, and the bone is slowly absorbed.
When this can become a problem? When you want to put an implant on that place in the bone, and there is not enough bone structure for this intervention. Then it is necessary to build up the bone in that part and let it heal. After that, you can put the implant without worrying about its future stability.
The bone itself can be taken either from some other bone in your body or we (can) use a special bone grafting material that represents the bone. After this operation, you will need to take care of your wound the same way you would after any other surgical procedure.
